Ian Scott 'Scotty'

Ian Scott

Over 45 years in the entertainment industry makes “Scotty” almost a pioneer in the field of Rock N’ Roll -  certainly in the field of Country Rock music.

For many years, the resident lead guitarist and M. D. for the Adelaide based band “Wild Oats”, Scotty also performs as a soloist entertainer and currently has a trio or quartet for hire to artists in need of such services. The name for the trio is open to the artist booking the services of these professional musicians to name for themselves.

His beginnings were with the band “The Tornadoes”, which featured Terry Britten (later to become world renown) and Ian as the main guitarists. Throughout the years, Ian worked with many other great performers, and is very proud to have been there for the exciting start of Beccy Cole’s career.

He and his Adelaide based band “The Red-backs” ventured into Sydney early in the sixties where they appeared at “Surf City” in Kings Cross on a New Years Eve way back then, and later, whilst living in Sydney in the sixties, he formed a guitar duo act with Pete Power.

They toured with variety groups consisting of the regular artists from Brian Henderson’s Bandstand, as well as Bryan Davies, the “Maori Troubadours” and “Kiwi Knights”. This act featured the two guitarists performing amazing guitar work as well as singing a variety of music and performing comedy routines, proving to be a popular act.

The very popular “Scott Brothers” formed up and Ian was seen often on Reg Lindsay’s Country Music Hour. Ernie Sigley had the Scott Brothers appear on his “Adelaide Tonight” show as well.

During the last decade, Ian has become a proficient producer of computerized music, and works in conjunction with “Big Wheel Studio’ and Chris Stevens based in Tamworth.
