Born in Western Australia, Charlie grew up in the wheat belt towns of York and Northam in the Avon Valley district of Western Australia. Although he began singing at an early age, his professional Country Music career began in the early 1980's when Charlie won the Overall Pro-am section of the Esperance Country Music Festival in 1983. He then formed the band Kentucky, playing all around W.A. for many years. Charlie moved to South Australia in the late eighties to sing for the band Both Barrels which lasted many years, including recording an album in the early nineties. Charlie now performs all around Australia. In 2004, Charlie proudly accepted an invitation to be inducted into the South Australian Country Music Hall Of Fame in Barmera, South Australia. Charlie is a qualified audio engineer with a Diploma of Music Industry (Technical Production) and operates CBM Recording Studios & Services in O'Sullivan Beach, South Australia where he lives with his partner, Jill. In 2009, Charlie hosted a tour to Tamworth from South Australia with Harris Coaches. Charlie's CD ('this is Charlie McCracken') is now available (Jan 2010) directly from Allingtons Outpost or by order at record Stores. |
