Charlie McCracken’s rich baritone voice has been heard on stages and radio stations all around Australia.
Some have said he sounds a bit like one of his heroes Waylon Jennings.
Singing the songs of famous Country artists such as Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Don Gibson, Vern Gosdin and Waylon Jennings to name a few, Charlie’s classical approach to Country Music endears him to true Country Music fans everywhere he goes.
Charlie was born in Western Australia, where he began listening to the music of Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and many more. In the early eighties, Charlie formed a band called Kentucky and played for a number of years in Western Australia, before moving to South Australia in the late eighties to join the band Both Barrels. After many years of performing in Western Australia and South Australia, Charlie was inducted into the South Australian Country Music Hall Of fame in 2004.
Charlie has studied music technical production and attained a Diploma of Audio Engineering. He built his recording studio “The Refinery” in O’Sullivan Beach, South Australia, and formed a small independent label, CBM Records. His CD album, “This Is Charlie McCracken”, was released at the South Australian Showcase in The Hands Of Fame Park at the Tamworth Country Music Festival in January, 2010.
Charlie is a professional member of the Country Music Association of Australia ( CMAA ), and Country Music SA Inc. and Full Writer Member of the Australasian Performing Right Association Limited (APRA ).
Early in 2011, Charlie formed the Charlie McCracken Band which now consists of Charlie (Vocals/Guitar), Mike Festa (Pedal Steel/Guitar), Paul Orchard (Drums), Tim Whibley (Guitar/Vocals) and Wayne Cheary (Bass Guitar/Vocals).
In August, 2011 Charlie was awarded the Adelaide Country Music Club’s Industry Award
