Hi,

My full name is Amanda Kate Giles but prefer to go by Mandy.

I was born in Lameroo on the 27 November 1985. My family moved to Adelaide when I was young and I began singing and piano lessons with my mum.

My dad is a teacher and when I was 9 years old he got a transfer to Coober Pedy Area School, so we moved once again. We lived in a dugout for three years and I sang in the school choir, which was directed by my mum. We toured Roxby Downs and sung on numerous occasions at community events.

We then moved (again) to Burra where my mum started up a school band called Tarantella. I was the lead singer with my brother on drums. We performed at school functions and I also performed dances at school assembly's.

Half way through year 9 at school, we moved to Adelaide where I began singing lessons with Leanne Hoad singing school. I performed two Dixie Chicks songs at the annual concert and also introduced the crowd to some line dancing! It was a lot of fun :)

We the moved house to another suburb in Adelaide and I began singing lessons with Jennifer McDonnell who sings for the State Opera. In 2003 I auditioned and was a finalist in the SBS National Karaoke competition. I also tried out for numerous other competitions but eventually decided that I had to go back to my country roots. That is when I decided to try out for the Road to Tamworth and never expected to win!!

Singing has always been a big part of my life and something that I always dreamed of perusing. I'd love to be famous!! I love performing and entertaining a crowd and would love to one day visit and maybe even sing at Nashville.

I have a very loving family, which consist of my parents, my older brother Ric and younger brother Steve and our two dogs.

I am currently working full-time in HR at the Adelaide Uni, studying part-time at UniSA and playing netball.

My other hobbies consist of sport, rock-climbing and bush walking. Although I live in Adelaide I go back to Burra almost every weekend just to get away from it all. I love the country and LOVE country music.

On May 21st 2006 Mandy won the SA Heat of the Telstra Road to Tamworth
